Chris Hill, Director of Environmental Sustainability at Mater Health Services, a GGHH member in Brisbane, Australia, published an article on the importance of environmental sustainability in the healthcare sector.
“Healthcare is fundamentally about healing; about doing no harm; about doing all we can to ensure the best possible outcome those for whom we are privileged to care. Environmental sustainability is about doing all we can to protect our planet; about ensuring the best possible outcomes for our environment and, in doing so, providing a platform for the generations to come who will inherit the earth from us.”
In 2010, Mater established their Sustainability at Mater program through which they put forward initiatives and programs to reduce their environmental footprint, while educating and involving their staff as well. Mater has been an active member of GGHH since 2013.
