Chao Jiang works as the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals Sustainability Coordinator in China at HCWH’s partner organization in Beijing, Rock Environment and Energy Institute.

She has four years’ work experience in chemical safety and environmental health advocacy and she has worked in one of the first established Chinese environmental NGOs, Global Village of Beijing. She also worked as the Program Manager of the organization’s chemical safety and environmental health program, being responsible for developing program strategy, implementing projects, and raising funds, etc.

Through collaborating with local organizations, Chao conducted the first self-initiated mercury thermometer substitution pilot project in China. She has also been following the development of Chinese and international chemical management policies.

Chao received her Master of Science degree from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF) and completed her thesis on the emergence of preventative chemical management policy in China. She has also received a graduate certificate in sustainable enterprise management at SUNY-ESF/Syracuse University.
