The Mexican Network of Pediatric Hospitals for Quality (Red mexicana de hospitales pediátricos por la calidad) signed a letter of adherrence announcing that all of their hospitals will soon join Global Green and Healthy Hospitals. The commitment was made during the First International Congress of Quality in Health, that occurred on May 28th – 30th at the Hospital del Niño DIF in Hidalgo, Mexico.

IMG-20150531-WA0000Maria Della Rodolfa, Programs Manager from Health Care Without Harm Latin America (Salud Sin Daño) participated in the event. She presented the GGHH Agenda, which is the foundation of the Network. She also gave details on a new initiative for hospitals to protect public health from climate change by presenting the 2020 Health Care Climate Challenge, the first international effort ever to track emissions and take measurable actions to reduce the sector’s carbon footprint.

Her presentation also focused the importance of eliminating the use of toxic chemicals and replacing them with safer alternatives, as laid out in the guide to substitute dangerous chemicals from the health care sector (available in Spanish), created by Health Care Without Harm Latin America.

With several GGHH members in attendance, the Congress also provided the opportunity for them to meet and share the progress their organizations have made in their work on their selected GGHH Agenda goals
