New GGHH member in South Africa, Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital (IALCH), launched their membership in GGHH with a hospital wide event to raise awareness among hospital staff, including senior management, on how they can all play a part in reducing their environmental footprint.

The Pediatric Department at IALCH took top honors in a completion for sustainability awareness campaigns with their message: “Save our World!  Without water, everything withers.  Save electricity, Save money & Save our earth.” There was also a quiz, singing and dramatization games, and a presentation on the various water and energy saving initiatives already in progress at the hospital. The event culminated with the planting of a tree at the IALCH main entrance by the CEO of the institution.

IALCH aims to reduce their consumption of water and energy, focusing on how clinical staff and partners use these resources in their daily routines and procedures.  With the successful launch of GGHH in the hospital, reducing electricity and water consumption remains top of mind for staff and partners.
