The 4th GGHH Community Planning Meeting in South Africa took place from the 20th to 23rd February 2017 in Pietermaritzburg. Thirteen representatives from member institutions from four provinces across South Africa participated: Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Free State and Western Cape.

The meeting provided an opportunity for members to network with one another and share updates on their work related to the GGHH goals of energy, waste, water and pharmaceuticals. During the event, participants discussed key highlights and challenges from their work in 2016, plans for collaboration with one another in 2017, and strategies to assist one another in the future.

The meeting was organized by groundWork, Health Care Without Harm’s strategic partner in South Africa, and consisted of the following focus areas:

  • Renewable Energy/Alternatives to fossil fuels
  • Health Care Waste Management
